A Strong Commitment To Community

Before establishing his Port Moody-based practice, Johann Contreras spent time practicing in the heart of downtown Vancouver. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Simon Fraser University where he majored in criminology and minored in sociology. He then went on to receive his law degree from Bond University in Australia and was subsequently called to the Bar of BC.

Johann has extensive experience representing clients across a range of legal matters including:

-Spousal and common-law sponsorship, Canadian citizenship issues, residency (both permanent and temporary)

-Civil litigation and debt collection

-Co-operative Housing Associations and co-op members

-An active member of the community, Johann joined the Tri-City Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia, also a Director of the Non-Profit Organization Mothers and Mentors Canada.

A Personal Connection To Immigration Law

Johann recognizes firsthand how important it is to bring loved ones to Canada. After meeting in Mexico, his parents made their home in Canada when his mother sponsored his father. Johann devotes a significant part of his practice to helping couples start their lives together by providing personalized spousal sponsorship solutions to clients across the globe.

When Johann is not practising law, he can be found snowboarding, mountain biking, surfing, and spending time with his wife Kelly, son Sebastian, and daughter Angelina.
