Kingston Dementia Homecare Services

About Us

Kingston Dementia Homecare Services (KDHS) provides specialized dementia care, respite and personal care services for seniors living in their own home or a care facility (such as a long-term care or retirement home). We offer a unique combination of quality home health care and community-based social services. KDHS strives to promote independence to those with a dementia to keep them living well within the community. Our mission is "To provide quality dementia care by knowledgeable and trustworthy caregivers, who take a holistic and empathetic approach to individualized care."

Stacey Spicer-Hickman has more than 20 years of experience in healthcare, in a variety of roles which have enabled her to become an expert in private home care services, in particular for those living with a cognitive impairment like dementia. She became involved in the healthcare profession after her grandmother was diagnosed with an Alzheimer's type dementia. Her grandmother took care of her often as a young child, and Stacey vowed to do the same for her Nana and others like her. Stacey attributes her company’s success to her motivation to provide the best care and services to those she serves and because of her amazing team.

KDHS’ services focus on client advocacy, assessment/intake, support, education, behaviour management, recreation, companionship, and community social services. These services are carried out by some of the most dedicated staff around! Stacey takes pride in the team she has formed and is the only home care provider in Southeastern Ontario with a specific focus on supporting those living with dementia in our community. At KDHS, we believe people can live well longer with some support. We also believe consistency of care is important, therefore we provide crossover training with new employees – which means if we need to switch your care provider, we will take the time to help them get to know you – because we understand that everyone is unique in their history and needs.
